Gear for and on the Camino
You're going to need some gear for a Camino. No doubt about it. Every pilgrim ends up with their own setup, but here's some guidance to get you started.
Less is more! I can't say this enough. For days, maybe months, you'll carry everything on your back. Cutting your load to the essentials is one of the best things you can do for your Camino.
My rule: Pack all your needs. Pack one of your wants. Pack none of your fears.
Resist the urge to pack for every "what if." The Camino isn't a wilderness trek. You'll have chances every day, sometimes every hour, to buy anything you forgot or replace anything that breaks. Even tiny villages have a little market with food and toiletries. Many towns have Camino shops with good gear, and the cities have everything. Lots of bars sell travel-size toiletries and snacks right at the counter.
A lot of people are surprised that prices along the Camino are fair. There's very little gouging, so buying as you go is a real option.
The brands I mention are what's worked for me, not paid endorsements. I don't get free gear. Some product links on this site and in my videos are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
